UN Global Voices Film Festival
A film festival that understands why we still need to say “women’s rights are human rights”
Vive Impact was fortunate to participate in a very special film festival bringing exposure to female content creators around the world. The UN Women’s San Francisco Bay Area Chapter hosted its third annual Global Voices Film Festival in May 2019, featuring VR experiences and cinema by emerging and established filmmakers. The film festival’s goal each year is to highlight women’s voices from across the globe, and to explore narratives that cover the diverse and complicated experiences of women today. It is also a fund raiser for the UN Women’s chapter, raising funds for their life changing programs in gender equality, education, and many others.
The Global Voices film festival kicked off with a special VR cinema consisting of a curated collection of virtual reality experiences showcasing the need for the world’s continued attention on issues affecting women’s daily lives. Featured topics included child marriage, human trafficking, and caste systems that deter girls from getting an education.
Many of the official selections can be found on our Viveport Video app, including Ghost Fleet VR, We Shall Have Peace, and Collisions.
