Experiences That Will Change The World
We are proud to present a showcase of our ongoing selections for the VR for Impact program. All of these projects strongly represent the spirit and mission of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Virtual reality not only has the ability to raise awareness and empathy in novel ways, but also to provide unique tools which have real world life-saving capabilities. Below are examples of these compelling projects.
LIFE VR
Life-saving Instruction for Emergences (LIFE) is a VR medical training platform developed by doctors, nurses and researchers at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP) in Kenya and Oxford University. Officially launched in November 2019, LIFE allows healthcare workers to practice life-saving skills via a realistic 3D virtual hospital using the Vive Focus mobile headset.
Tree
Tree, developed by New Reality Company, immerses viewers in the tragic fate that befalls a rainforest tree. Critically acclaimed, Tree was showcased at the World Economic Forum in Davos and continues to be featured at important world events around the globe. A strong partnership with the Rainforest Alliance further ensures direct impact on raising awareness of our deforestation problem.
My Africa: Elephant Keeper
Developed by Vision3 and in conjunction with Conservation International, My Africa is a 360° video and interactive VR experience, highlighting the remarkable work being done at the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in Kenya. Mh Africa was an official selection at the TRIBECA film festival in 2018, and an official selection at AFI Docs in 2018.
Where Thoughts Go
Where Thoughts Go is an intimate virtual reality world where you can discover the dreams, fears and secrets of others. Set in a world where human thoughts exist as sleeping creatures, they await to be awakened. To be part of the experience, you have the opportunity to leave your own story behind. What will you say?
Accused #2 Walter Sisulu
From Arte, this animated documentary immerses the viewer in the trial which convicted Nelson Mandela during the Apartheid regime in South Africa. Using previously un-released original sound recordings from the trial and a unique art direction, this narrative takes us besides Walter Sisulu during the Rivonia trial, which took place in 1963 and 1964.
